For the countertop they take a simple (from the kitchen table) 26 or 36 mm, it has a thick plastic layer on top and absorbs vibrations well, the subject slides well on it. Chipboard sheets from 16 mm are also suitable. The table top is also folding.

Build: practical recommendations
The bed and the tabletop are connected while temporarily. To the prepared place on the last put a plate, note the contour. A hand mill makes a recess for the plate, here it is important to precisely observe its depth, the plate must lie down in order to ideally coincide without gaps with the plane of the table.

The tool is turned down, screwed to the plate, its screws are fixed to the tabletop, their caps must be recessed, so the object does not cling to them. Now the table top is finally attached to the frame.
Safety facilities will increase if you equip it with a clamp. It is roller and is useful when machining dimensional parts. They serve as a ball bearing, it is placed in the device for fixation. It must have a rigid fixation from the surface at the required distance. This will ensure a tight, stable clamping of the part to the plane when passing under the roller.
A very convenient device for adjusting the height of the mill head is an elevator. It is done like this. From the bottom of the folding tabletop, a shaft is mounted for a router, made of simple wooden boards, and a conventional jack and a router are inserted into it. By adjusting the height of the jack, the position of the mill head is automatically set.
The carriage is attached to the guide profile with a groove in the tabletop.
This profile must be drowned in the surface. For convenience, a perpendicular partition with a cutout for a router head is mounted on the table, in which case the carriage slides along it and the table surface. It is necessary to make a hole in the cutout for the head through which chips and other waste material will be removed. At the longitudinal stop is a box with a hole for the vacuum cleaner hose. It will pull the chips.
