The self-made circular saw is a necessary and useful tool in the arsenal of a home craftsman. Especially it is necessary for those who work a lot with wood. To make a circular saw on your own, it is enough to have a great desire, the necessary tools and to be able to work with metal.

Circular saw, built with his own hands, can be a stationary or desktop model. In essence, they are one and the same. The devices differ only in the height of the bed. What height to do will depend on the intensity of use of the workplace. If the saw is rarely used, it can be performed in the desktop version. If necessary, the structure can be disassembled and make room in the workshop for other works. If the master is constantly working with wood, then a stationary circular saw is more suitable for him.
The stationary structure consists of several basic components: a table, a gear disk, an engine, an adjustable side support and a shaft.
For its manufacture will be needed:

- Metal disc with teeth (diameter 400 mm).

Assembly stationary construction
The main part of the saw is the table. The table top should be made of sheet metal. Its size depends on the preferences of the wizard. The main thing is that the circular saw with its own hands was stable and it was convenient to work on it. If additional space is required for installing other devices, the surface can be covered with a sheet of thick plywood (Fig. 1).
Special attention should be paid to the height of the guide. Most convenient when the guide protrudes 120 mm above the table. Experience shows that with this arrangement it is possible to process the boards not only in width but also in thickness.

To manufacture a guide for a circular saw, you will need 2 pieces of a metal angle and a clip that is welded to them. The metal part is intentionally made from two parts of a corner. A solid corner will lead when working saws. It is necessary to fasten a wooden bar to the corners with the help of bolts and self-tapping screws, and fasten a piece of plastic or laminate 120 mm wide on it. The length of the laminate section must match the length of the table. This part should be set at an angle of 90 ° relative to the table top (Fig. 2).
The circular saw must be adjustable in height. In some designs, you can adjust the table, but for work it is more convenient when you can raise and lower the saw itself.
To install the engine and the shaft, a single platform is required. It should be installed on the same axis as a rocker. It is fixed by a segment of a bolt with a diameter of 15 mm, which is welded to it. On the side of the saw you need to weld a metal plate in which a hole is made beforehand. Its shape should be oblong along the beam. A bolt will pass through it, onto which a lamb with handles should be screwed. The saw lock is ready. If the need for height adjustment arises, the lamb is unscrewed, the saw is set along the ruler and the lamb is twisted back. When using a disc with a diameter of 400 mm, it is possible to process boards up to 240 mm wide (Fig. 3).

A circular saw with your own hands can be made in the manual version. The easiest way to make it from the grinder, making some improvements in its design. On the grinder, you need to install the axial handle and sliding stop.
To make a sliding stop, 2 segments of the angle will be needed. They are located on the sides of the disc with teeth, which replaces the abrasive wheel. Corners are mounted with a gap of 3-4 mm. In front and behind they are connected with bolts and nuts. To obtain a gap, it is necessary to use washers. The bottom edge of the corners should be rounded. Because of this, they will not cling to the objects being processed.
The circular saw with the hands of the grinder is equipped with a sliding stop. The clamp is fixed on the body. It is made of metal tape. The coupler should be located below. A strip of galvanized not less than 1-1.5 mm thick is attached to the tape, on which you first need to make a hole for the bolt of the sliding stop. With the help of washers, gaps are established between the working part and the side parts of the support. Clearances should be the same size.
An axial handle is attached to the gearbox housing. To do this, the gearbox is disassembled, so that you can determine at what points 4 holes for small bolts should be made. The handle is made of a piece of pipe or rod and should be in the form of a bracket. Its width is slightly wider than the palm of the master. At the ends with which it will be attached to the gearbox, it is necessary to drill holes for the bolts. Flaring the ends of the tube is not necessary so that the handle does not arch during operation.
Under the handle should fix the piece of rod or tube, protruding forward. Flare the end of the tube and make a hole for an axis 4-6 mm thick. The hole must be larger by 4 mm. To make it convenient to work, a gap of at least 100-150 mm is left between the rod and the handle.

The next stage - the manufacture of the adjustment bar. This will require a piece of rod with a diameter of 4-6 mm. The end of the pipe is curved in the shape of a loop, flared slightly. With the help of washers at the front end of the support, the same clearance is established along the entire length.
The part of the rod that will enter the hole in the handle must be threaded. Before inserting the bar, screw the nut onto it. Another nut tightens after assembly. The nuts will adjust the cutting depth. If necessary, they need to be released or tightened.Back to table of contents
Circular saw, assembled with the hands of the grinder, can be attached to the frame. For its manufacture will need a round tube or rod with a diameter of 14-20 mm. They are bent in the shape of the letter "P". A swing arm is mounted on the crossmember. The lower part of the frame, curved horizontally, is fixed on the table with bolts or self-tapping screws. To give the structure more stability, you need to fix additional struts.
The swing arm is mounted on a horizontal crossbar. It is made from 2 pieces of pipe, welding them in the shape of the letter "T". The upper part should be cut lengthwise into two halves. After she is worn, you need to fasten it with clamps. By means of clamps, a hand-held circular saw, made with a grinder, is attached to the leg.
