All things must lie in their places. Isn't it nice when nothing is lying around, but neatly lies in its place, and everyone knows where to look for something. So with the tools the same situation. As often happens when it is impossible to find a specific tool in time, when they all lie in different places and have to run from one end of the apartment to the other in search of the right one. Another thing is when everything is in one place, for example, in a tool box or a special tool cabinet, there is an order there and you can easily find the tool you need.

You can buy a ready locker and adapt it for storing tools. However, he may not respond to all your wishes.

It is worth trying to make a do-it-yourself cabinet for tools.

What do we need for this? Of course, the material from which the cabinet will be made, the set of certain tools, the skills of working with wood and the ability to process it, and, of course, the place where the finished cabinet for tools will be delivered.

Necessary tools and materials

For the manufacture of the cabinet will need the following materials:

  • the boards. Mainly used from pine;
  • plywood sheets, from which we will make the back wall;
  • wooden blocks for the manufacture of cabinet legs;
  • furniture hinges;
  • corners for fastening parts of the cabinet.

It is necessary to prepare the necessary tools for the work:

  • screwdriver, a set of drills and bits;
  • hacksaw;
  • hammer;
  • nails, screws;
  • electric jigsaw.

So, you can begin to make a cabinet for tools. The result is a small cabinet with four opening doors and a folding table to enable the execution of any work.

How to make an external frame?

To begin with, the size of the cabinet is determined - its width, height and depth. Two side panels are cut from the available boards according to the specified dimensions. If the cabinet will stand on the floor where there is a plinth, then it is necessary to cut corners from the bottom surfaces so that the cabinet can safely stand close to the wall. Considering the width and height of the future locker, the back wall of the required dimensions is cut out from a sheet of plywood. From pine boards cut the lower and upper base. With the help of furniture corners we fasten the side panels, the upper and lower panels and the back wall between them. For reliability, fasten all the parts to each other with screws, close the space from the holes with special plugs to match the color of the wood. The result was a box with the dimensions we specified.

From the bars we cut the legs for our locker. If desired, they can then be closed with a faceplate of plywood, leaving a hollow space inside. All elements are fastened with the help of angles, screws or nails.

Try on the resulting box to our place. If all dimensions are properly maintained, then it should fit perfectly into the prepared opening or stand on the space allocated for it.

After that, we divide our closet into two halves vertically by installing a thick shelf. This is done to ensure that the cabinet doors are lighter and less bulky. The depth of this shelf should be less than the depth of the cabinet for the tool to the depth of the board itself (for what it is needed, we will find out later). From pine boards we will cut out four doors according to the size of our wardrobe. Using screws, screwdriver and furniture hinges, we attach all four doors to our main cabinet frame. If done correctly, at this stage we got a four-door wardrobe, which is still empty inside.

Then we begin to fill our future cabinet. Let's start with the top branch.

Fill the interior of the cabinet.

From pine boards we will cut out the required number of shelves. Here it is necessary to take into account that the depth of the shelves should be less than the depth of the cabinet, since we will need this distance later. Install shelves inside the upper compartment, using special mounts. On these shelves in the future you can place a small set of tools: screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches. For convenience, the folding tool can be arranged on the shelves of small plastic containers in which you already have to put the necessary tools into groups. Here you can store nails, screws, bolts, screws, dowels, etc. in special boxes.

We now turn to the lower compartment of our locker. Here we install one shelf, sawing and fixing it with fasteners. On the resulting lower shelves you can already keep the tool heavier, for example, drills, screwdrivers, jigsaws, grinders. The shelf in the lower compartment should be even narrower than in the upper compartment. Why do we do that? In the lower compartment, we will install a folding table for repair work. How to do it?

Folding table installation

We cut out the tabletop of such a size from the board so that it is in an upright position freely entering the bottom of the cabinet. Using furniture hinges, we attach it to our wide shelf, which divides the cabinet into two halves. It turned out like a door that opens up. If everything is done correctly, then on top of this table top the doors of the lower compartment will close freely. At the back of the table top attach folding foot, which in height should provide an even horizontal position of the table in the open form. You can attach such a leg with the help of furniture folding corners. Consider how best to position the leg so that when the table is lowered it does not interfere with the closing of the cabinet doors.

At this stage, we have a closet for the instrument, which is divided into two compartments, in the upper of which small tools are stored on shelves in plastic containers, in the lower compartment - larger and heavier, and the table is laid out to perform any repairs.

Now go to the inner surface of the cabinet doors. They can have a long tool that does not fit on the shelves. To do this, we will do on the inner surface of the fastening door for such a tool. It can be both small narrow pockets, and just holders in which the tool will be attached in the future. Hammers, large wrenches, adjustable wrenches, handsaws and similar tools can be placed on the doors.

When installing the resulting tool cabinet to the wall, you must carefully reinforce it. As an additional reinforcement, you need to attach the middle part of the cabinet to the wall with screws. Since a folding table is provided for it, additional reinforcement is simply necessary so that when you work with it, your cabinet is firmly fixed.

For convenience, you can provide a lighting system in your locker. To do this, put the cabinet next to the available outlet. In the cabinet, you can use a small removable lamp on a spring that turns in different directions. Pull the wire to the outlet from the side or back, drilling a hole of the required diameter. You can make and constant lighting, installing small lamps and connecting them to a permanent power source. Light is necessarily necessary when working at the table or when searching for the tool you need.

Well, if such a cabinet for tools will be located in a wide area, and will not be limited to niches and walls. Since working at the table in a limited space is quite difficult.

So, using the minimum labor costs, a small amount of materials and the minimum set of tools, you can independently make a cabinet for the tool with your own hands and arrange it in accordance with your needs.
