During construction work, the use of a perforator is becoming more and more popular. It makes various holes or dismantles old cement-stone coatings. Often there is a situation when the drilling accessories can not be removed from the cartridge punch. How to pull the drill yourself and with the least risk of tool damage? To do this, it is necessary to understand some features of the occurrence of such problems during the operation of the tool.
If the drill is jammed in the chuck, you need to drop a few drops of oil to the joint.
Types and causes of drill jamming in the punch
There are 2 variants of this problem:
- the drill is jammed in the drill chuck or transition chuck to use a conventional drill in the drill;
- stuck drill (drill) in the punch chuck.
The first option arises because of the need to use a conventional drill when working with a punch. To do this, there is a transitional clamping cartridge, as in a conventional drill, it is inserted into the perforator clamping device, the drilling process is carried out. After the end of the work, sometimes it is not possible to pull out the drill freely, because it is impossible to unscrew or unclamp the jaws of the cartridge. This problem does not cause difficulties in its resolution. As a rule, the drill jams due to the fact that the clamping device has not been lubricated or has a very dirty one.

To release the clamping mechanism, it is necessary to drop a special penetrating liquid into it, for example, WD-40, and kerosene can also be used. After 5-10 minutes, you need to gently knock on the cartridge with a copper hammer, while at the same time try to loosen the drill with your other hand. After these manipulations, the mechanism can be unscrewed. When the cartridge is released, it must be cleaned and lubricated.
In the second embodiment, the drill is stuck in the perforator cartridge. This happens for other reasons than when the drill is jammed in the chuck. The drill or drill in the drill experiences rotational and sometimes weak shock loads that are transferred to their body only through the clamping jaws and a constant emphasis on the bottom of the cartridge. In the perforator there is a completely different mechanism for the transmission of forces and another kinematics of a drill in its cartridge. Since the perforator provides for rotational-impact or impact vector of force transmission, drills and drills receive energy with a special hammer, which is driven by an electric motor of the tool and hits the shank of inserted devices (drills, drills, crowns, chisels). The inserted equipment has special grooves in its body, with the help of which they are fixed within the calculated limits and the transfer of torque. Ways that can help pull out the drill
You can reach the jammed drill with the help of a vice if you hold the drill in them and pull out the drill by loosening it.
The device of the perforator cartridge involves the movement of the drilling (drill) tooling along the barrel. When ripping occurs (an increase in the diameter of the opposite side of the drill), the barrel does not allow the drill to freely exit. This is the most common cause of the problem. You can try to extract a snap in the following ways:
- A jammed drill is clamped in a vice on a workbench, after which, swaying from side to side, the tool pulls it towards itself.
- The perforator is clamped directly into a large clamp vice so as not to damage its body (rubber gaskets can be used). Then the drill is clamped with a gas key (1st number) or in a small vice and hit with a copper hammer on them. The vector of the direction of blows must coincide with the direction of exit of the snap-in from the cartridge.
In both ways, penetrating liquids can be used. In rare cases, the cause of jamming is to work without lubrication and blockage. The fixation ball, if it gets dross or hard stones, may not release the drill. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to lubricate the drill shank in the future.
If the drill is jammed as a result of turning in the cartridge itself, it is necessary to dismantle the parts of the cartridge by removing the rubber cap and retaining ring for this. Or try to turn the drill back 90 ° (the direction of the turn can be seen from the grooves on the drill and the chuck cheeks). Turning the drill, as a rule, leads to the subsequent replacement of parts clamping device.
It should be noted that during long-term work with poor-quality equipment there is a strong deformation of the shank, therefore, the proposed methods fail to release the drill.

In this case, a complete disassembly of the punch will be required, after which the stuck drill will be knocked out with a punch. As a result of such an operation, a tool shaft replacement will be required. The disassembly scheme for many devices is individual, so it is advisable to find an installation drawing of all components. However, without having locksmith skills, the stem node should not be disassembled and repaired. In this case, it is better to contact the workshop.
You can pull out the drill using the suggested methods after the first 2-3 strokes of adequate strength. If there has been no noticeable movement, then subsequent attempts to dislodge the bit can lead to damage to the perforator itself.Back to table of contents

The use of branded drills is a guarantee that the drill bit in the drill will not get stuck. But in modern points of sale construction equipment can be sold fake goods. To avoid accidents, you need to make trial work purchased drills.
If after making several holes the drill quietly passes through the shank, then the tooling is of high quality. If ripping occurs, it is likely to be able to pull out the drill without disassembling the perforator, since the deformation will be slight. It is important not to miss the moment of occurrence of difficulty in moving along the trunk.
Sometimes it is too powerful a tool to make holes in materials that are not intended for these drills. Drills, even if they are of high quality, can not withstand heavy loads and deform.
If you did not manage to pull the drill out of the punch yourself, then you need to be prepared for the fact that contacting the service with such a problem will void the warranty on the tool, since the use of poor-quality tooling is the fault of the buyer and user.
