The weld seams, in their reliability, are not inferior to the strength of the material itself. In that case, if the connection of pipes made of polypropylene failed, you can eliminate this defect with the help of couplings.

The material has sufficient chemical inertness, so the quality of water passing through such pipes does not change. Thanks to stabilizing additives, polypropylene perfectly withstands any changes in temperature and pressure.

For example, when water freezes in a pipe, it simply expands, and after water melts, it returns to its original size. Due to the fact that the material has a lower thermal conductivity than the metal, condensate does not appear on its outer surface. And also polypropylene absorbs noise more and is easier to maintain.

Soldering and installing polypropylene pipes is not difficult. They are used for various types of gaskets: in open form, in mines, in channels under plaster, etc. For this work, special soldering irons are used, in one part of which a pipe is inserted, and in the other - various fittings.

So, for example, water pipes are connected by the method of resistance welding with fittings made of polypropylene. In this case, the connection itself is cast. If as a result it is necessary to achieve a detachable connection, then combined polypropylene fittings with threaded metal inserts are used. This method is used to attach this material to metal pipes, meters and the rest of the pipeline elements.

Next is the preparation of the welding machine to work. To do this, a soldering iron or mounted on special legs from the kit, or placed on a flat surface. The main thing is to install it so that during work it will not fall and cause no burns to anyone. After that, with the help of special keys, pair nozzles are fixed on it, which correspond to the required diameter of pipes. These nozzles are checked for cleanliness when heated and, if necessary, wiped with a rag.

Then on the device for soldering, either automatically or with a knob of the regulator, the temperature is set to 260°. After that, it turns on in the network, and the pair of nozzles are heated, usually within 10-15 minutes. Their full readiness is fixed by the indicator on the device, the light of which either lights up or goes out. Only five minutes after the warm-up should be the first welding.

Soldering time depends on the diameter of the pipe. So, if their diameter is 16, 20, 25, 32 mm, then it takes 5, 6, 7, 8 seconds to heat up, and 4 seconds to weld. In this case, cooling occurs in 120, 120, 180 and 240 seconds, respectively, for each pipe diameter. When soldering pipes of 40 and 50 mm in diameter, 12 and 18 seconds are needed for heating, 5 seconds for welding, and 240 and 300 seconds for cooling, respectively.

The pipes of the following diameters are welded using a special mounting for installation in order to set the pressure at the connection and avoid turning the axis. With a diameter of 63 and 75 mm, heating takes place in 24 and 30 seconds, welding in 6, cooling in 360 and 390 seconds. For diameters of 90 and 110 mm, it takes 40 and 50 seconds for heating, 8 and 10 for soldering, and 390 and 480 seconds for cooling, respectively.

The main thing is to remember that the soldering time must be counted from the moment the pipe is completely inserted into the fitting.

Cooling should take place naturally, i.e. In no case can you use any means for this, for example, a fan.

Polypropylene soldering process

Before starting the installation of a plumbing or heating system, it is necessary to designate the locations of all the elements: taps, tees, turning corners, etc. Next, the assembly of the individual parts, which are later soldered into one system, is carried out. To facilitate the work process, attachable parts are held horizontally.

For vertical soldering, a companion is needed, as during soldering with a soldering iron, he must attach the pipe to the desired connection, while holding it without shifting. Then, with the help of a partner, all the connected elements of the system are held in the appropriate position and the whole system is spiked.

Soldering of polypropylene is recommended to perform welding machine called "Fuzioterm". Working with him, before turning it on, it should be in a cold state to screw and tighten the welding tools by hand. When soldering two joints, these tools are placed in special holes in this unit. Before soldering with a special indicator, the temperature is checked, which should be equal to 260 °. The welding process itself is carried out 5 minutes after the apparatus is heated.

Welding methods

To solder polypropylene with a diameter up to 63 mm, sleeve welding is used. In this case, a coupling is used to fix the two pipes to each other, and the threaded assemblies are connected with a socket by fittings. Butt welding is performed for pipes with a diameter greater than 63 mm without the use of additional parts.

For polypropylene pipes with a diameter of less than 40 mm, a hand-held welding machine with a centering device and special nozzles is used and socket welding is performed. In this case, this unit is first fixed, then special nozzles are installed and it is turned on.

The process of socket soldering is as follows. First, with the help of special scissors cut off the necessary part of the pipe from polypropylene. If it is reinforced, then its ends are necessarily trimmed. Then, after heating the apparatus, soldering is performed, which is carried out quickly to avoid deformation of the joint. After this, the soldering elements are fixed, excluding for the time being all mechanical loads. All work should be done in protective gloves.

At the end of the welding of polypropylene in any necessary way, you need to leave everything to a complete cooling, at least 1-2 hours. Only after that you can begin to crimp the entire system. For this, water is pumped and pressure tested. To make the connection reliable and last as long as possible, it is necessary to follow all the rules for welding.
