As for the pneumatic spray gun, then the work is based on compressed air. Such a device has a special air chamber, where the coloring matter enters through small openings, and mixing with air, it forms a “torch”, which is used to paint products. These models have a performance parameter of approximately 400 m² / h. This device can have the following paint supply options:

  1. Suction. In this case, there is a specially rarefied medium in the chamber, which has the effect of sucking the mixture into the spray tank, and then the substance goes into the nozzle and from there to the surface. But in this embodiment, the tank will have a volume of no more than 1 liter.
  2. Of course. This is exactly the model with the upper tank, from where, due to gravity, the paint is lowered into the device. Volumes are the maximum value of 0.9 liters.
  3. Pressure. In this model, the movement of mixtures occurs due to a small pressure.

Pneumatic spray gun can be with low, high, low or combined pressure.

If you work with an airbrush from time to time, then in general, the weight of the product is not so fundamental. But with frequent use, the heavy mass will be inconvenient, as the hand quickly gets tired. And this is not to mention the fact that the handle itself should easily fall into the hand, and the trigger is convenient to press, without any extra effort.

This device has two very important elements - the nozzle and the locking needle. To these details should put forward special requirements, because, apart from the tank, they are most in contact with liquid substances. Accordingly, the material from which they are made should not be afraid of corrosion, be distinguished by good wear resistance. If the gun will have only one nozzle size, it will significantly limit its scope. An important point is the possibility of smooth adjustment of the needle.

As already noted, such a tool can be automated (electric) and manual. Classification parameters can be distinguished many, for example, by low or high pressure, or by purpose, or by the principle of operation of the device. The material itself enters the tool in two ways: forced pumping or airless / combined spraying.

In the case of amateur operation of the device, an electrical model will be suitable, which requires an electrical network to operate. In general, the cost of them is quite affordable, and practicality is beyond doubt. The device of such a device is quite simple: the base, which serves as the location of the suction and discharge valve, pump, pressure hose, fishing rod, lid and hose, equipped with a filter for suction.

A few words should be said about the dyes used. If you use an electric spray gun, you should refrain from using acrylic or latex paints. If it is necessary to paint with these materials, it is better to pay attention to other devices.

After the mixture is prepared and the tool is ready for use, it should be properly adjusted. Here the important point is the consistency of the coloring matter. Too viscous paint can break the nozzle.

Before calibrating the spray gun, adjust the width of the “torch”. In order not to spend too much time on painting, especially if the area is large, it is necessary to make spraying maximum. Accordingly, in the opposite case, the “torch” should already be, but here the important point is the account of the pressure of the air flow.

You should also properly adjust the flow of the substance. This moment is regulated by opening or partially closing the hole through which the paint passes.

The next step is to work on the air supply. For this purpose, large paper is used, for example, drawing paper. It is fixed in a vertical position and, already focusing on the working surface, select the desired force.

In general, there is nothing difficult in the settings of the spray gun.

Before you start working with the spray gun, you should prepare a work surface. To do this, it is cleaned from dirt and dust, requires degreasing. If chips, cracks or scratches are found, they should be thoroughly repaired, for this purpose, the surface should be primed, after which it is well ground.

The device itself also requires adjustment. Adjustment requires:

  • airflow pressure;
  • supply of coloring matter;
  • torch width.

A very important point is to dilute the paint, as this will directly affect the operation of the device, the quality of painting. Each pack of materials indicates the correct activator and proportions, which should be strictly followed. But this does not mean that if the two components are mixed, then you can begin to paint. Do not forget about the solvent.

If a spray gun is encountered for the first time, it is advisable to carry out a test paint on an unnecessary surface. Firstly, it will let the instrument itself feel, secondly, it will allow to see the quality of the diluted mixture, well, and thirdly, it is possible to evaluate the resulting painting of the surface.

Structural features of the tool

Selecting a spray gun, you should pay special attention to the volume of the tank and its location. This parameter is largely influenced by the frequency of use of the device and the scope for which it is needed, be it home or professional use.

  1. Receiver. The spray gun can come with a lower or upper tank. For work with a thick mass is better to use the first option. This is due to the fact that such devices supply the mixture due to compressed air, which creates the necessary pressure. Although the design with the upper tank is considered to be universal due to the fact that the coloring matter under the force of gravity itself approaches the nozzle. And it is very convenient. For home use, suitable tanks from 1 to 25 liters, while professionals use devices up to 500 liters.
  2. Housing It is best if this element is made of aluminum, while having a nickel-plated coating.
  3. Gaskets for sealing. The quality of operation of the gun largely depends on the reliability of the sealing compounds in the device. Gaskets are used for this purpose, which contribute to the sealing of the joints. The best today are Teflon products.
