How to make a miracle spade do it yourself

There are situations when the phrase from the old joke "I can dig, but I can not dig" can only be uttered rhetorically. Because you still have to do it, not paying attention to back pain.

The gardener's dream of inventing a tool that would facilitate the debilitating process of preparing the soil for planting, came true not so long ago, but has already received recognition from gardeners. The device is commercially available, and for those who want to learn how to do a miracle spade with their own hands, there are detailed descriptions of its manufacture.

What can a miracle shovel?

All owners of personal plots know that it is better to use pitchforks for getting looser ground during processing. At its core, the miracle spade is just ordinary forks that have gone through a well-considered technological upgrade.

According to unconfirmed data, the harsh Ural industrialists are related to the ingenious invention, but the initial design has undergone many changes since its creation, and work with it has become more convenient and efficient.

In the end, the miracle of a shovel is a pitchfork, to which stops are attached on two sides. The front stop looks like a frame on the runners, the rear has a T-shaped. The frame is equipped with teeth, and in general the design has a somewhat fantastic look. This does not prevent her from doing work using much less effort than using a conventional fork or a bayonet.

In this form, the device copes well with clay, and even dense, rammed soil, showing exceptional reliability. Due to the wider working plane and thanks to the mechanism of action, the miracle of a shovel can significantly increase the speed of digging, thus reducing the physical load on the spine and the energy costs of the worker.

The only thing to consider is that the weight of the digger must exceed 80 kg, otherwise the pressure on the handle will not be enough to get a good result.

What is a miracle shovel?

Manufacturers offer several options for such mechanisms, differing in size, design and material of manufacture. They cost dearly, therefore in the presence of certain labor skills and the scheme of assembly of the device it is quite possible to do without extra expenses. Miracle shovel is of three types: "Plowman", "Mole" and the usual. Self-creation is better to start with the simplest option.

Before you start preparing the right tool and material, you need to think about exactly what size a spade will be needed and for what purposes it will be used.

The circuit for the manufacture of handles for the miracle shovels

The scheme of making handles for the miracle shovels.

The size of the bayonet, on which it will enter the ground, depends on the depth of soil freezing. If the shovel will be used for loosening the soil, a size of 10 cm is sufficient. When planting vegetable crops, a deeper digging is required, therefore, the teeth should enter the layer of frozen soil at least 5 cm.

The width depends on the intended land grab area, but it is not recommended to exceed a size of 50 cm, otherwise it will take too much effort to work. The appearance of the structure can be studied using the attached drawing, which shows a tool with a 35 cm digging strip. To make a tool, a miracle shovel will be needed:

  • rebar or doped flat-rolled products with a width of 2 cm and a section of about 0.5 cm;
  • square tube section 1 cm;
  • metal pipe with a diameter of more than 5 cm;
  • bolts and nuts;
  • welding machine;
  • Bulgarian;
  • drill;
  • sandpaper.

The process of making miracle shovels

First of all, they make bayonets, for this the reinforcement is cut into pieces of the required length. Their ends are sharpened on one side at an angle of 30 °. If the soil is soft, the bevel angle can be reduced to 15 °, but it should be noted that this will lead to frequent blunting of the cutting part. Then cut off a portion of the square tube for the support bar and prepare a round hollow tube for the handle. Elements are welded according to the drawing (scheme 1).

The stop bar is arched in the shape of an arc and mounted to the side frames of the supporting structure. After that, all parts are welded together, and the places of movable joints are bolted and nuts, after having drilled holes of the desired diameter. Places where the welding was carried out, cleaned with emery paper, the handle is equipped with a wooden handle.
