How to make a homemade plow

Work on the ground requires a lot of physical labor, even if you have a small plot of land. To facilitate this work, you can purchase a mini-tractor and with its help it will be much easier and faster to work on the land. In order to be able to perform various jobs with the help of a mini-tractor, it must have the appropriate equipment that can be purchased, or you can create it yourself, for example, to make a homemade plow.

Plow scope

Most agricultural work requires equipment such as a plow. The easiest way to buy the finished product in the store, but if you have basic plumbing skills and a desire to save money, you can make a plow with your own hands.

This is a fairly simple equipment, so any home craftsman can make a plow with his own hands. You need to develop or find a ready-made drawing, purchase the necessary materials and you can get to work. If you do not have enough knowledge to develop the structure yourself, then it is better to find a ready-made drawing.

The plow for a minitractor can be of a different design: rotor, reversible, one or two body. If you observe all dimensions when creating the plow and make it according to the finished drawing, then such equipment will be no worse than the finished factory model.

To do the work you need the following tools:

  • measuring instruments;
  • welding machine;
  • cutting torch;
  • hammer;
  • Bulgarian;
  • scissors for metal;
  • rolls;
  • fasteners.

According to the finished drawing, it is better to first make templates out of cardboard to see how the construction will look, and only after that proceed to the manufacture of all the parts from metal.

Manufacturing sequence

The simplest model is a single-body plow, so you can do it yourself.

The main elements of this equipment are the plowshare and blade. For the manufacture of these elements it is necessary to take sheet steel with a thickness of 3-5 mm. First, make a removable plowshare, it is best to make it from a disk from a circular saw, as for its manufacture using high-strength steel.

In order to sharpen the cutting part of the plowshare, it is repulsed on the anvil in the same way as it is done with an ordinary scythe.

The next step is to make the blade. A metal pipe with a diameter of 50 cm, whose wall thickness is 5 mm, is best suited for this element. Using a cutter, a blank for the blade is cut out of the pipe using a cutter, which is then adjusted to the desired shape and size with the help of a grinder (Figure 1).

All other elements of the plow can be made from scrap materials and combined into a single structure (Figure 2).

To assemble all the elements, it is necessary to take wedges with an angle of 25 °, after which they take an auxiliary sheet of metal with a thickness of 2-3 mm and install a ploughshare on it, which is point-welded.

Vertically, the side plate of the rack is welded to the plowshare so that it goes over the edge of the plowshare by 5-8 mm. It should be above the blade by 10 mm. Now the blade is welded tightly to the ploughshare, so that they have a solid surface. Between the blade and the blade of the coulter should be an angle of 6-8 ° (Figure 3).

Plow adjustment

Before starting work on the minitractor, they install the lugs, this will not allow the wheels to slip during operation. The equipment is attached to the motoblock and fixed pin. It is not necessary to clamp the adjusting nuts, as in the course of work you will adjust the plow to the required furrow depth.

Plow adjustment sequence:

  1. First, the wheels of the tiller should be put on the stand, and then perform its balancing. If the work is done in the fall, then the height of the stand should be 20-25 cm, and if in the spring, then 15-20, the plowing depth will depend on it.
  2. Using the adjusting bolts, adjust the angle of the plow. His "heel" should be located parallel to the soil surface.
  3. In this position, fix the attachments and remove the walker with supports.
  4. Adjust the steering wheel so that it is at the level of the waist.
  5. It is necessary to make a control furrow and evaluate this equipment in operation, if necessary, then the adjustment is made.

To make a single-body plow for a motor-block with your own hands, although it is a rather difficult task, it is available to craftsmen who have elementary metalwork skills. To work with such equipment was easy, everything should be done in accordance with the drawings, and after making a homemade design, it should be properly adjusted.
