In the home workshop should definitely find a place for the workbench. Making a carpentry vice with your own hands is not at all difficult. Handicrafts are always pleasing to the eye. With this simple tool, you can work with different wooden products and engage in wood carving. You can do without the joiner's vice, clamping the workpiece in the clamp or laying on the workbench, but it is inconvenient. Processing the end of the workpiece cannot do without a carpentry vice, and the clamps simply do not fit. The metal leaves traces on the wood, the tool, jumping off the workpiece, can deteriorate on the clamps. Thus, in the workshop without such a tool is indispensable, and it is not necessary to buy it in the store, it is quite possible to make a vice with your own hands.

Holdfast

The joiner's vice is intended for a product clamp in the course of work.

The joiner's vice consists of the case with a mobile plate which moves two guides. The mechanism itself is attached to the workbench with metal fasteners. Vise jaws have the ability to fasten wooden, plastic or metal linings on them. They are needed to protect the workpiece from damage during processing and clamping. Without lining can not do in the work with a soft grade of wood.

To fix the workpieces (rarely less than 20 cm), a spring-loaded quick-clamping mechanism is installed, because without it, if you use a screw-clamp, you have to rotate the jaws' shear mechanism for too long. After a quick jaw racking, the final fixation is made with a screw with a special thread. They are mounted on the workbench with screws.

Joiner's vice manufacturing techniques

A self-made joinery vice needs a screw pin with a thread of 20 mm and a cutting length of 150 mm. Such a pin can be searched in the sports equipment shop or ordered from the turner in the metal workshop. Its thread is very durable, so it can withstand a considerable load. The longer there is a screw, the wider it will be possible to dissolve the vise jaws. For the specified dimensions, you can dilute them at a distance of about 80 mm.

You will need the right studs. Try searching them in the hardware store in the fastener department or among old things and structures. For the proposed construction of wood yews, studs are taken from the moped mirror and its fasteners. For the construction of the joinery vice, you can take the studs from the moped mirror. They are bent, but if you make several blows with a hammer on the anvil, they will straighten.

To fix the handle in the long head screw, you need to make a slot. If the handle does not fit in size, it can be easily processed to the desired width of the hole using a file.

A handle made of a screw with a ring in place of the cap is well suited for turning the screw of the clamp.

Sponges are formed from two boards. One of them will be fixed, made of pine boards and fixed on the workbench, and the second sponge of the vice will be a board with dimensions of 20x18x500 mm. Larger size is length.

In each board, a hole is drilled into which a screw will be inserted, using a drill of a suitable diameter. For studs, you need a 10 mm drill bit, they are drilled all the boards at once. In order not to disturb the location of the holes, it is convenient to connect them with nails, which are then carefully pulled out.

After that, you can put the studs and the screw into the drilled holes, install the washer and nut.

Not all blanks are equally large, so in order to be able to process the blanks, shorter studs need to be made shorter, and in both boards an additional 2 holes are closer to the clamp screw.

You can pick up larger screws, if this is done, then your joiner's vice will become universal. It will be possible to clamp and process long workpieces, work with the sides of boards, etc.

Joiner vice with mounted nut

For work on the manufacture of such a vice will need staples made of metal, and for breeding sponges - bolt and nut. In order to avoid breaking the key when clamping the workpiece from the nut, it is pressed into the key.

For this purpose, it is strongly heated in the area of the sponges and placed on the nut. Thus, the technology of making a workbench with your own hands is simple, so almost anyone with even small skills in working with materials for its manufacture can cope with it.
