Typical factory production is expensive and is considered a professional equipment with rich functionality and high level of performance. The finished tool will be able to pay off after a few months. It is necessary in the presence of a large amount of forest. In other cases, it is advisable to purchase or independently make a sawmill of a small electric saw.

The equipment intended for sawing wood is presented in a wide range. Most of them are too expensive for a typical suburban economy, and the processing volumes are focused on the scale of industrial enterprises and reach several thousand cubic meters per day. Specifications

Devices manufactured in the factory, have their own characteristics that affect the price. The PCM-1E power saw (380 V) has small dimensions, copes well with wood processing with a diameter of not more than 60 cm and a length of not more than 9.5 m. It is equipped with a three-phase electric motor, whose power reaches 5.5-7.5 kW.

Equipment PCM-3B (Stihl MS 660) of small dimensions is able to process logs with a diameter of up to 60 cm and a length of up to 9 m. In a professional model, the engine power reaches 5.2 kW. The unit copes with the processing of 6 cubic meters of wood during the 8-hour shift.

The sawmill disk "Taiga DP-1" easily processes wood with a diameter of not more than 90 cm and a length of up to 7 m. It is capable of producing several types of wood products, equipped with an 11 kW electric motor. It produces in an 8-hour shift up to 10 cubic meters of wood. Independent production

To make a power saw with your own hands, you need to create a plan. The production process is carried out independently, if the power-saw bench is used irregularly and there are certain materials (metal profiles, engine).

The sawmill from an electric saw of own production possesses more modest indicators, than factory analog. The self-made device is used for the production of beams and planks. You must first determine:

  • the length and diameter of the logs to be processed;
  • unit performance;
  • motor - gasoline or electric;
  • place of installation.

As an engine, you can adapt the carriage for a semi professional chainsaw. Experts say that household chainsaws and chain saws are not suitable, since their motors are not designed to perform such actions (lack of the necessary power).

The frame, base or frame must be sufficiently stable and reliable, because the safety of the master and the quality of the equipment depends on it. The length of the frame is determined by taking into account the length of wood to be processed. Guides can be made of pipes, angle, U-shaped profile. The thickness of the metal is selected based on the weight of the treated wood. For a carriage with a saw you will need metal in 3-4 mm. He will be able to withstand the weight of the valve and engine.

The choice of disk or tire depends on the type of device being manufactured. Their length reaches 40-50 cm. It is possible to reduce the amount of waste if you use chains with a small thickness of kerf and a special type of tire. The angle of sharpening the chain should be 10 °. Experts recommend making a device for mounting round timber in the form of a low stationary unit.

Step-by-step instruction

To make a sawmill with a disk, you need to place the carriage at the top of the structure. Rails made from a 50 mm corner should be 5 m long. If the equipment is stationary, then in the concrete and in the corner it will be necessary to drill holes in 15 cm increments. The construction is fixed to the floor using dowels.

The device for fastening a log can be made of a channel or a U-shaped profile. The edges must be welded to the corner. Additionally, it is required to make holes for the bolts so that the log is fixed in the profile. The thickness of the processed logs will not exceed 40 cm, so 10, 15 and 20 cm are measured from the center of the profile. Holes for the stops will be located at these points. It is possible to provide a more reliable fixation by installing a movable lock with teeth on the first and last profiles. The clamp is made of metal sheet with a thickness of 4 mm. Teeth are cut with a grinder. In the profile and the clamp, additional holes must be made so that the last unit can be easily dismantled and installed back.

The next step involves the manufacture of the carriage. The design must be reliable, considering a 3-phase three-phase motor. The height of the product should be 1-1.2 m. It is necessary to mark a corner with a thickness of 4 mm and a length of 40 mm. Then you want to cut the elements. The design of the carriage is welded and requires the connection of parts. At the ends of its corners make holes for the wheels.

Next is the installation of the engine with the disk. It is desirable that its height can be adjusted, and the device can work in two positions - vertical and horizontal. The unit can be adjusted in height with the help of two pipes, which are recommended to be welded to the carriage frame.

At the next stage, you will need 2 channels welded together and a sheet of metal 6 mm thick. The channel fastens to pipes by means of U-shaped collars with a diameter of 10 mm. At its ends you will need to weld pieces of metal with holes for clamps, which must simultaneously sit tightly on the pipe and, if necessary, slide along it. It is advisable to adjust the height using 2 threaded rods. From above, in the carriage profile, it is necessary to make holes for the rods.

A nut is welded to both ends of the profile on which the motor is located, on both sides, into which the rod must be screwed in and the sprocket from the bicycle must be welded. From two sides 2 rods are formed with thread and asterisks. Between them there are 2 big stars from the bike, which will have to be tightly joined. During their rotation the engine will rise or fall.

By creating the conditions for turning the motor both horizontally and vertically, you can achieve a rotation of the disc in 2 positions. The frame is assembled on the basis of the size of the disk and the engine and is welded to the rolling profile. It is necessary to attach 2 bearings, make 4 holes in the sheet of steel. They are necessary for mounting the electric motor, to which it is required to weld 2 metal rods, focusing on the diameter of the bearings. Then the structure is firmly attached to the frame. On the back side there will be a handle with stops. The protective cover is made of stainless steel and fixed with screws to the frame with a motor. A control panel with “Start” and “Stop” buttons is connected to a fixed engine with a disk.

Chainsaw application

The round wood is sawn with the help of a saw chain with a professional high power chainsaw. The chain saw has a disadvantage - a large amount of sawdust and dust. A chainsaw from a chainsaw can be constructed using:

  • 2 channels (length - 8 m, height - 140-180 mm);
  • 2 rails, turned upside down;
  • corners of 50х100 mm.

The length of the base is recommended to make holes with a diameter of 14-16 mm in increments of 1-1.5 m. Screeds are made of water pipes. Their length should reach 25 cm. To connect them, you will need regular bolts. From metal squares they make racks.

It is recommended to ensure that the base is made exclusively from direct parts.

The distance to the edge of the base from the extreme legs is 80-100 cm. You can add extra rigidity to the structure by welding the braces between the uprights.

Then a mobile carriage is manufactured, the base of which is a plate of steel with a length of 600 mm and a thickness of 4-6 cm. A corner with dimensions of 40x40 mm is welded to the plate (bottom), and the cart is mounted on rollers and bearings. 2 corners welded from above. A chainsaw will be attached to them.

The next stage involves the manufacture of structures that fix the wood. For this, it is recommended to use pipes with a diameter of 35-40 mm and movable hoses. They are fixed at any height. More developed version of the sawmill consists of 4 nodes:

  • saw driven;
  • the mechanism regulating the thickness of the products;
  • mechanism for moving the saw part;
  • device fixing logs.

A suitable thickness of wood is sawn, raising or lowering the base fixed on 4 screws, which is held by means of nuts welded to the plate with bent edges. There are locknuts on top of the base. They will need to be tightened well after the equipment has been adjusted to the appropriate thickness of the products.

The saw part will move along the frame along guide angles. Between the last elements there should be an indent of at least 0.55 m. 2 rollers are attached to the posts. The upper ones rest on the guide angles, while the lower ones keep the sawing part from lifting. Rollers can be replaced with 20 mm bearings.

The logs will be fixed with two combs. One will be able to move and move with the help of a screw, while the other will remain fixed. Having established and having clamped a processed round timber combs, fix the movable part with two screws and immobilize. The sawmill is ready for operation.
