The table on which the tool of the same name will be installed is called milling. For the basis of construction, it is permissible to use the base of the working workbench, as an alternative, you can take up the manufacturing process yourself. Milling cutter will be made below the table top. In fig. 1 you can see a schematic image of such a table. Through the mounting plate will be made fixing the router to the tabletop. Due to the fact that it should be based on durable material, textolite, steel sheet or plywood can be used.
Figure 1. Diagram of the milling table.
Fastening the plate should be done with screws, which have a countersunk head. In order to fix the sole, it is necessary to equip the hole, and in addition to this, in the tabletop you need to duplicate the hole of the plate. Milling installation must be fixed to the table with screws. If there are no holes in the sole to install the plate, they need to be drilled; instead, you can use clamps.
The scheme with the size of the table top for milling table.
If you want to facilitate the production of a table designed for woodworking, you can make a design with your own hands that you want to place on the table. For this, it is permissible to use a chipboard, on the surface of which it is necessary to install a guide that is fixed to bolted joints, for which two clamps will be needed. Then you can equip the hole to install the cutter.
If you decide to make a table with your own hands, it should have a frame, which is a stationary element. This is a frame on supports with a table top. It can be based on welded steel, MDF or wood. The dimensions of the bed are not critical, but you can choose them depending on the size of the processed elements.
In order to eliminate the possibility that the structural elements will interfere with the master, the lower part of the frame must be deepened 200 mm in relation to the front overhang of the table top. If you intend to work with the door linings and the ends of the elements of the facades for the bed independently, you can take as a basis the dimensions (c, d, w): 900x500x1500 mm. As the only limitation, you can select the height indicator, which should be in the range of 850-900 mm, for the reason that it is optimal when working standing up.
It is recommended to provide the frame with adjustable supports that will compensate for uneven floors, this will help adjust the inclination of the table if necessary.
Milling cutter to the tabletop.
As an inexpensive and optimal variant of the tabletop for construction, the kitchen tabletop is made of chipboard, whose thickness is equal to 26 or 36 mm. When working with the workpiece, you can easily move it due to sliding on the surface. The work of the machine is accompanied by vibration, and the chipboard has the ability to effectively extinguish it. If this material is not available, you can use MDF or laminated chipboard, whose thickness is limited to 16 mm.
In order to make a table for a milling machine, you need to prepare the following materials and tools:
- self-tapping screws.
Mounting plate installation
The plate is fastened with screws.
Due to the fact that the kitchen worktop has a very significant thickness, the table must be supplemented with a mounting plate, placing it near the place where the tool sole is fixed to the table. This element is also needed in order to preserve the amplitude of the instrument overhang.
The production of the plate, which the milling table will have, can be made from metal, however in the process of processing the glass fiber textolite will still be more convenient and durable. It should have a rectangular shape with a thickness in the range of 4-8 mm, the side of the element should be given a value in the range of 150-300 mm. In the central part of it you need to make a hole whose diameter will be equal to the diameter of the hole located in the sole of the tool.
The threaded holes with which the router bit is provided will help install the plastic cover.
It is necessary to fix the tabletop to the bed. At the verified place on the table top it is necessary to lay the mounting plate, indicating its location with a pencil. Frazer will allow in the thickness of the tabletop to prepare a seat, which should be such that the plate lay flush.
In the seat you need to round the corners. As soon as the plate has been planted, it is necessary to make a through mill. In the next step, you can put everything together. The tool needs to be brought from below, strengthened to the plate, and then, using self-tapping screws, strengthen the plate to the body of the table top.
It is necessary to ensure that the fastener caps are well recessed, this will prevent their interaction with the workpiece.
Making a table for a frezer is better to make independently, saving on the acquisition of an expensive model.
