An alternative to the wall chaser can be considered a grinder, but to use it for these purposes it is necessary to have certain skills and extensive experience with it. With the help of a wall chaser, a neat slot is formed, which is further sealed with cement mortar.
This power tool belongs to the cutting apparatus, which can be attributed to the grinding machine. However, the strobe, which is made with the use of a sander, will have torn edges, and its implementation will be associated with a number of difficulties. Therefore, the use of a wall chaser will significantly speed up the laying of the grooves (at least 2 times) and is guaranteed to form smooth edges of the groove for wires and communications pipes.

In addition, the wall chaser offered by the manufacturers can adjust the thickness of the chaser. This allows you to use this tool when laying pipes or cables of sufficiently large diameter from the outside of the house or inside, no matter what material the structure is made of. Models may include the installation of a special nozzle to which you can attach a vacuum cleaner to remove dust generated during operation. This is very convenient, since, in addition to protecting the eyes from flying debris when working, it opens the entire surface on which construction works are carried out. Making electric wall chaser yourself

To make a wall chaser, you will need:
- electric grinder;
- 2 diamond discs suitable for this tool model;
- an additional nut, which corresponds in diameter to the fixing element of the grinder;
- welding machine;
- a metal pipe that will serve as a support for a wall chaser, as well as a nozzle for fastening dust removal hoses;
- sheet metal from which it is possible to make the casing and the side parts of the support;
- Roulette, pencil for marking.
The wall chaser begin to produce with the fact that the first disk is fixed on the grinder.
Its fastening is made according to the instructions. Next on the mounting rod, you must install a special nut with a ring, the diameter of which coincides with the diameter of the main. This ring will fix the second disk and will not allow it to spin when working.
A nut must be installed between the two discs.
If it is not possible to fix the second disc securely or cause certain difficulties, then instead of a nut, you can use a ring made of metal, the thickness of which is less than 1 cm.
An alternative to this method of fastening can be the use of an elongated nut or a spacer hub. These parts are selected by the diameter of the rod grinder. The use of bushings, nuts, washers allows you to change the distance between the discs and, as a result, adjust the width of the grooves.
Without a casing, this tool is not recommended. This is due to the fact that in the course of the work a large amount of fine dust is formed, it is also possible that larger fragments of the building material of the walls and floors fly to the face of the working person. It is impossible to fully protect oneself from these manifestations of the instrument, for example, with glasses, a respirator. This protection of the respiratory tract and eyes can be guaranteed only by the casing. However, the use of personal protective equipment at work is welcome.
For convenience, you can make the support sole. It is welded from a metal pipe, the sides of which are pieces of sheet metal. This design is attached to the grinder with a yoke.
The casing is made of steel sheets that can be bent accordingly. If you need to connect the parts into a single structure, you can use a welding machine. Electrodes are selected in accordance with the material from which the casing is made. As a result, he should cover the top working part of the wall chaser. In addition, for removal of dust and other debris, which is formed as a result of work in the casing, it is necessary to provide for fixing the tube.
The diameter of the tube mounted in the casing, which is designed to attach the vacuum cleaner in the future when working, should be slightly smaller than the nozzle of the flexible hose of the electric dust and debris collector. This will allow to tightly connect the parts with each other, ensuring a secure fit. In addition, as an adapter between the parts of the casing and dust removal, you can use plastic tubes equipped with rotating parts. Making a manual wall chaser
If it is necessary to make a strobe in aerated concrete, foam concrete, that is, a material that can be cut simply enough, then the use of an electric wall chaser is not required. In these situations, you can get by with a manual tool for this purpose.
In order to perform a self-made manual wall chaser, you will need:
- metal pipe;
- a small segment of steel, for example, a piece of blade files.
- welding machine and a set of electrodes;
- rubber tube that serves as a handle for a wall chaser;
- bolt and nut for fixing the cutting part.
Manual wall chasers are divided into 2 types depending on the surface on which it is necessary to perform work:
- vertical destination;
- horizontal destination.
Structurally, they are the same. Their difference is that in one of them the handle bends, and in the other - not.
In order to get a wall chaser to make a slot on horizontal surfaces, a pipe with a length of 1 m must be bent at a distance of 50-60 cm from one of the ends. Drill a hole at the straight end. At a distance of 10-15 cm welded pipe T-shaped, which will serve as an additional handle and an emphasis for work. The metal blank is ground and bent so that a rectangle is obtained, the small side of which is equal to the diameter of the pipe. The height of the cutting edge is determined by the depth of the slot. Having made a hole in the required place, it is attached to the pipe with a bolt and fixed with a nut.
