Build a concrete mixer forced

Concrete is one of the most sought-after building materials. It is used for pouring foundations, paving walkways, making cinder blocks, reinforced concrete barrier structures, etc. Anyone can prepare a concrete solution: its composition is not a secret to anyone, components are available. The only problem is the kneading: the manual process is inefficient and requires great physical effort, and industrial mixers are not cheap. Self-made forced concrete mixer is the best solution for those who mix the mortar regularly and in large quantities.

Types of concrete mixers

According to the principle of the concrete mixers are divided into gravitational and compulsory. Gravity mixers are a rotating drum into which components for preparing concrete are laid. Under the action of gravity, they roll over and mix. The inner walls of the tank have blades that allow you to better knead the solution and prevent it from sticking to the walls. Gravitational installations can be both with manual, and with an electric drive. The advantage of concrete mixers of this type is their ease of execution and low operating energy costs. However, their productivity is low, and the quality of concrete can only be described as satisfactory. It is suitable for pouring foundations or paving, but is poorly suited for the production of cinder block, paving slabs, and various supporting structures.

The principle of operation of the forced concrete mixer is similar to the principle of operation of household mixers. Inside the fixed vessel there is a shaft with rotating blades that knead the concrete. The speed of production of a forced-type concrete mixer is several times higher than the speed of operation of gravity mixers, and the quality of the concrete produced is better. Not even the most powerful models of forced concrete mixers can produce up to 0.5 cubic meters in 5 minutes of work. m of concrete, whereas the "gravitational" it takes up to half an hour.

The design of the forced concrete mixer can be made with a horizontal or vertical shaft. In the first case, the container has a form of trough. Through it passes a horizontal shaft with mixing paddles. In the second, the shaft is mounted vertically in the middle of the cylindrical container. It has racks to which two types of blades are attached: agitating and selective. Mixing blades directly perform the mixing of the solution, the task of choice is to scrape adhered concrete from the walls of the container and feed it into the mixing zone. The most powerful industrial models have not one, but two shafts. The radii of the blades intersect to eliminate dead zones, and the blades themselves are designed in such a way that they pass through each other. Unloading of finished concrete is made through the opening window in the bottom of the tank.

Self-made concrete mixer forced action, of course, inferior to the best industrial designs, but the cost to the owner is much cheaper and allows to produce concrete of decent quality. In order to assemble the unit yourself, you will need:

  • capacity;
  • electric motor;
  • gears or pulleys of belt gears;
  • drive shaft;
  • bearing;
  • blades;
  • metal profile for the manufacture of the frame.

The following tools are needed for the work:

  • welding machine;
  • drill;
  • Bulgarian;
  • wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers.

A container with a capacity of up to 200 liters will be suitable as a container. For a concrete mixer with a horizontal shaft, you can make a "trough" of iron sheet. At the end of the tank, a hole is made into which a shaft is inserted through the bearing (for horizontal execution at both ends). In the lower part of the door is cut to unload the finished concrete. The door is hinged and sealed with soft rubber. It should have a latch, in order to avoid opening during kneading. Loading capacity is made through the top.

The drive shaft can be made of pipe or fittings. Blades welded to it. They are also easy to make yourself from the profile and sheet metal.

For a forced-type concrete mixer, an engine with a power of 2.2 kW is taken. In order to provide the necessary speed of rotation of the shaft (not more than 48 rpm), the gearbox or pulleys of belt gears are installed.

A frame on which a concrete mixer is installed is welded from the corners and channels. If necessary, its frequent movement of the frame can be performed on wheels.
